conversation list from the page and stores it locally in your browser. There is no

FEATURES

Unified Dashboard
See every conversation from every AI platform in one clean list. Each conversation
shows its title, platform badge, first message preview, last updated time, and any
tags or stars you've added. No more hunting through four different browser tabs to
find that one conversation from last Tuesday.

Smart Folders
Create custom folders with color-coded labels to organize your conversations however
you want. Drag conversations into folders for projects, clients, topics, or any
system that works for you. When you delete a folder, conversations automatically
move back to "All Chats" — nothing gets lost.

Full-Text Search (Pro)
The free tier lets you search conversation titles instantly. Pro unlocks full-text
search across titles, first messages, and conversation content. Find any
conversation in milliseconds, even if you only remember a single word from deep
inside a chat. Search is debounced at 180ms for a smooth, responsive experience.

Starring & Favorites
Star your most important conversations with a single click or the "S" keyboard
shortcut. Sort by "Starred first" to keep your pinned chats at the top. Stars
persist across syncs and are visible from every view.

Tags
Add custom tags to any conversation — comma-separated, up to 8 visible per card.
Tags make it easy to create your own categorization system on top of folders. Use
them for priority levels, project names, status labels, or whatever fits your
workflow.

Renaming
Double-click any conversation title to rename it inline. Troves stores your custom
title separately from the original platform title, so you always have a reference
back to what the AI platform called it. Renamed conversations show a subtle "edited"
badge so you know at a glance which titles you've customized.

Sort Options
Four sort modes to surface what matters:
- Newest first (default) — most recently updated at the top
- Oldest first — for working through a backlog
- A to Z — alphabetical for scanning
- Starred first — pinned favorites at the top, then sorted by date

Bulk Actions
Toggle selection mode and check off multiple conversations at once. Then apply bulk
operations: star or unstar in batch, or move an entire selection to a folder.
Perfect for organizing a backlog of hundreds of conversations in minutes instead of
hours.

Auto-Folder Rules (Pro)
Set up keyword-based rules that automatically sort new conversations into the right
folders. Each rule has a keyword query, a target folder, and an optional platform
filter. Rules match against titles and first messages using case-insensitive
substring matching. You can enable, disable, or delete individual rules, and apply
them retroactively to your existing conversations. Only conversations without a
manual folder assignment are affected, so your hand-organized chats stay exactly
where you put them.

Sync triggers automatically when you switch tabs or activate the extension, with
smart cooldowns to avoid flooding any platform. The system merges data from multiple
sources, deduplicates conversations, and gracefully handles API unavailability.
Your last 80 sync events are stored for diagnostics.

Keyboard Shortcuts
Power users can navigate without touching the mouse:
- S: Toggle star on the focused conversation
- M: Open the move-to-folder menu
- Enter / Space: Open a conversation or toggle selection in bulk mode
- Double-click: Rename a conversation inline

Toast Notifications
Subtle, auto-dismissing notifications keep you informed without getting in the way.
Success messages for completed syncs and bulk actions. Warnings for offline status
or license issues. Errors for sync failures or invalid URLs. Each notification type
has its own timing and visual style.

PRIVACY-FIRST ARCHITECTURE

Troves was built with a single principle: your conversations are yours.

All data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. We do not operate a
cloud sync service. We do not have a database of your conversations. We cannot see,
access, or read anything you store in Troves.

The only network request Troves makes is for Pro license validation, which sends
your email address and extension ID to our API hosted on Cloudflare Workers. That's
it. No analytics. No tracking pixels. No advertising SDKs. No telemetry. No
third-party data sharing.

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it. And if
you encrypt that export, even the backup file is unreadable without your
passphrase.

We believe privacy shouldn't be a premium feature. Free and Pro users get the same
local-only architecture. The only difference is how many conversations and folders
you can organize.

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

We believe in transparency about every permission we request:

activeTab: To detect which AI platform you're currently viewing and extract
conversation metadata from the page. We only read conversation lists — never your
browsing history, passwords, or personal data outside of the four supported
platforms.

storage: To persist your extension settings, folder structure, and license state
using chrome.storage.local. Everything stays on your device.

sidePanel: To render the Troves sidebar panel alongside your AI conversations. This
is the core UI of the extension.

Host permissions (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, grok.com, x.com): To
inject content scripts that read conversation lists from these specific platforms.
We do not request broad host permissions — only the exact domains we need.

tabs: To detect when you switch between tabs so Troves can sync the active platform.

scripting: To dynamically inject content scripts when needed for sync operations.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Built with Manifest V3, the latest Chrome extension standard. The sidebar is a React
application bundled with Vite for fast, optimized builds. Content scripts are
platform-specific and scoped to only the domains they need. The background service
worker handles sync scheduling with intelligent cooldowns and queue management.

Data is stored in IndexedDB with structured schemas for conversations, folders,
tags, and settings. Search uses an optimized filtering pipeline with Web Worker
offloading for smooth performance even with thousands of conversations. If the Web
Worker is unavailable, the system gracefully falls back to main-thread filtering.

Sync is designed to be respectful of the platforms it reads from. Cooldowns prevent
excessive page scanning, and deep sync caps at 90 scroll steps to avoid overloading
any platform's UI. API and DOM data sources are merged intelligently with
deduplication based on external conversation IDs.

The extension uses zero external runtime dependencies beyond React. No analytics
libraries, no tracking scripts, no third-party code running in your browser. What
you install is what you get.
