Overview
Tab Bin lets you free your tabs without losing them.
Quickly archive your open tabs into a local archive to clear the tab bar and reclaim memory — without sending anything to the cloud and without polluting your bookmarks. Tab Bin can take over your new tab page or live as a quick toolbar popup. Your choice.
What you can do
• Archive in one click. Close every eligible tab in the current window — or every window — and stash them safely in the bin.
• Browse by domain or by date. Items group automatically under their domain (with redundant suffixes like " — Google Search" trimmed off), or flip to a chronological view with a dedicated "Last Archive" bucket at the top.
• Tag entries. Click the pencil on any card to rename the title or add tags. Tags get their own shelves in the sidebar so you can drill in fast.
• Pin what matters. Pinned items rise to the top of their group and stand out at a glance.
• Bulk select. Open multiple selected URLs in tabs, pin them, or delete them in one go.
• Search everything. Filter across title, URL, domain, and tags. Use #tagname to filter by tag.
• Open Tabs view. See your currently open tabs grouped by window and archive any single tab or whole window from one place.
• Export / Import. Round-trip the entire archive as JSON. Move it between machines, back it up, recover from anything.
• Safe updates. A schema-aware migration system snapshots your archive before any data-shape change, so future feature releases can't lose your tabs.
Privacy by default
• All data is stored locally in chrome.storage.local.
• Nothing is uploaded. No sync, no account, no analytics.
• Favicons are fetched from Google's public favicon service for instant loading.
Prefer Chrome's default new tab page? Flip "use as new tab page" off and Tab Bin stays in the toolbar where you want it.
Made for keeping tabs without keeping them open.
