Overview

See the bias. Read smarter.

SpinCheck analyzes any news article you're reading and shows you whether
it leans left, right, or stays neutral — with the specific evidence to
back it up. One click, no setup, no account.

──────────────────────────────────
WHAT YOU GET FROM EACH ANALYSIS
──────────────────────────────────

• A 0–10 bias score in either direction, with concrete calibration
(5 = standard NYT/WSJ op-ed, 7 = cable opinion, 10 = outright propaganda)

• Direct quotes and framing examples showing exactly where the bias shows up

• What's missing — context, voices, or counterarguments the author left out

• The strongest case from the opposing side, written charitably

• Common ground — what both sides actually agree on, and where the real
disagreement lies. (This is the most useful thing for anyone trying to
form their own view.)

• A confidence rating so you know when the assessment is solid vs. ambiguous

• Suggested reading from sources across the spectrum to round out your
perspective

──────────────────────────────────
WHY SPINCHECK IS DIFFERENT
──────────────────────────────────

Equally critical of left and right
The same standards apply to MSNBC and Fox, NYT and WSJ opinion, AOC and
Trump. The prompt explicitly checks for asymmetric judgment — if the
same article with the opposite stance wouldn't get the same score, it's
reconsidered.

Evidence-based, not vibes
Every bias call is backed by direct quotes and specific examples from
the article. No black-box scoring.

Steel-mans both sides
SpinCheck doesn't just call out bias — it shows you the strongest,
most charitable version of the opposing view. The goal is to help you
think clearly, not to push you in any direction.

Reasons from current American politics, not stale templates
Political alignments are often counterintuitive today. Criticism of
Elon Musk is left-coded. Skepticism of FBI/DOJ is right-coded. Opposition
to Ukraine aid has shifted right. SpinCheck reasons from who actually
holds positions today, not abstract ideology.

Works on paywalled content
Reads what's already loaded in your browser, so paywalled articles you're
logged into work fine.
