Overview
Helpful for calculating dates for doing like for like comparisons, especially in analytics reporting web apps.
Often things have clear patterns of usage based on day of week, for example traffic may follow a pattern of being busier Mon-Fri, less so on Sat-Sun. A straight year on year comparison may miss these patterns.
Example:
2025-02-04 was a Tuesday, one year earlier would be 2024-02-04, which was a Sunday. 2025-02-04 would be calculated as 2024-02-06 with Same Weekday.
