SafeBrowsing scans each website you visit in real time and gives you a clear risk verdict: Safe, Suspicious, or Malicious. Get instant, easy-to-understand signals right in your toolbar—no guessing, no digging.
What it does:
- Real-time risk scoring that analyzes the active page and related signals as you browse
- Simple verdicts with a color-coded badge and popup (Safe / Suspicious / Malicious)
- Phishing and typosquatting checks, including punycode look-alikes
- Lightweight and unobtrusive, designed for speed and low resource use
Privacy-first:
- No browsing history is sold or used for ads
- Option to use your own server
Permissions requested:
- Read and change data on websites you visit: needed to analyze the current page and show verdicts
- ActiveTab: triggers checks only when you interact with a page
- Storage: saves your preferences and enables local caching
Get started:
- Install the extension
- Click the toolbar icon on any page to see its risk verdict
- Optional: open Settings to connect to your self-hosted server
