Roastedcv Copy Job Descri
✨ AI-Powered View on Chrome Web StoreChrome will indicate if you already have this installed.
Overview
Copy JD adds a "Copy JD" item to your right-click menu. One click copies the full job description from the current page to your clipboard, clean plain text, ready to paste into a doc, a chat, or an AI assistant.
Why it's better than copy/paste
• Deterministic. It looks for the JobPosting JSON-LD schema first, then falls back to known per-site selectors, then to Mozilla Readability. You get the description, not the navbar, footer, "apply now" buttons, or related-jobs sidebar.
• Selection-aware. If you've selected text on the page, your selection is copied verbatim instead.
• Clean output. Lists are turned into "- " lines, blocks become newlines, whitespace collapses. Paste-ready in any editor.
• Fast. Runs entirely in your browser. No network calls, no backend, no AI, no account, no telemetry.
Where it works
Works on common job boards and company career pages. Sites without a dedicated rule are handled by the Readability fallback.
Privacy and permissions
• No broad host permissions. The content script is injected on demand only into the tab you right-click, using Chrome's activeTab grant.
• No data leaves your machine. No analytics. No telemetry.
• Open source under the MIT license: https://github.com/roasted-cv/roasted-extension
Use cases
• Pasting a job description into an AI assistant to draft a cover letter or tailor your resume.
• Keeping a local archive of postings you're tracking.
• Comparing the same posting across different boards.
Tips
• Right-click anywhere on a job posting page, then choose "Copy JD".
• Select text first to copy that selection instead.
• If the toast says "Couldn't find a job description", the page likely renders it in a way no tier recognizes. Open an issue with the URL so we can add a rule.
