**How it works**

RecipeLift reads structured recipe data (Schema.org JSON-LD and Microdata) that modern recipe blogs already embed in their pages. When you click the RecipeLift icon on a supported recipe page, the extension finds that data and displays a clean card right in the popup. Ingredients on one side, steps on the other. No blog text, no ads, no distractions.

**What "supported" means**

Recipe blogs that publish Schema.org Recipe data (JSON-LD or Microdata) work out of the box. This covers most major recipe blogs and publisher sites, plus any WordPress blog using WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes, Mediavine Create, or similar standard recipe plugins. If RecipeLift can't find recipe data on a page, it tells you clearly instead of guessing wrong.

Every saved recipe lives locally on your device. Search by name, cuisine, or tag. Add custom tags like "weeknight," "meal prep," or "holiday." Open any saved recipe to see the full card with ingredients, instructions, and a link back to the original source.

Planning meals for the week? Select 3, 4, or 5 saved recipes. RecipeLift consolidates all ingredients into one shopping list. If two recipes both call for flour, you get one line with the combined quantity instead of two separate entries. Check items off as you shop, copy the list to your clipboard, or send it straight to Amazon Fresh.

**How extraction works**

RecipeLift reads structured recipe data (Schema.org JSON-LD and Microdata) that recipe sites already embed in their pages. This covers roughly 80% of recipe blogs. For sites without structured data, a secondary parser scans the page for common recipe card patterns (WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes, Mediavine Create, and others). If no recipe data is found, RecipeLift tells you clearly instead of guessing.

**Privacy**

RecipeLift runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server. Your saved recipes, tags, and preferences stay on your device. The extension only reads the page you're currently viewing, and only when you click the icon (activeTab permission). Full privacy policy at https://recipelift.app/privacy

**Permissions explained**

* activeTab: Read the current page when you click the icon. Nothing else, nothing in the background.
* storage: Save your recipes and preferences locally.
* scripting: Inject the recipe parser into the current tab.
