Overview
Chrome Extension that automatically renames academic PDF downloads from DOI-based filenames to their actual paper titles.
- Before: 3789239.3793282.pdf
- After: Emerging Standards for Machine-to-Machine Video Coding.pdf
Supported Sites
- ACM Digital Library
- IEEE Xplore
- arXiv
Usage
1. Visit a paper page on ACM, IEEE Xplore, or arXiv — the extension automatically caches the paper title
2. Download the PDF as usual (click the PDF link, right-click → Save, etc.)
3. The file is saved with the paper title instead of the DOI-based filename
4. Click the extension icon in the toolbar to see rename history and count
NOTE:
- Fetches paper titles by parsing HTML from the source page — no remote code execution
- All data (title cache and download history) is stored locally on your device
- No data collection or external transmission of any kind
