What NewsLens does:
Open any news article, click the NewsLens button, and get an instant AI-powered breakdown:

Emotional Tone — detects the overall emotional coloring of the article: neutral, alarming, aggressive, sarcastic, or pompous. Scored 0–10.
Manipulation Detection — identifies persuasion techniques: fear-mongering, false dilemmas, appeal to authority, cherry-picking, and more.
Propaganda Markers — flags one-sided framing, loaded language, and narrative patterns common in state or corporate propaganda.
Fact-Check — highlights key claims that need verification, red flags, and missing context the author left out.
Neutral Rewrite — generates a bias-free summary of the article's core facts in 3–5 sentences.

⚡ Chrome Built-in AI (Gemini Nano) — runs locally on your device. Free, private, no data leaves your browser. Requires Chrome 127+ with Prompt API enabled.
☁️ OpenRouter — access powerful cloud models: Claude Sonnet 4, GPT-4o, Gemini 2.5 Flash, Llama 3.1, Mistral Large, and more. Bring your own API key from openrouter.ai. Add any custom model.

Privacy first:
NewsLens does not collect, store, or transmit your data. With Chrome AI, everything happens locally. With OpenRouter, article text is sent only to the model provider you choose. No analytics, no tracking, no ads.
How to use:

Install the extension
Open settings — choose your AI engine and language
Navigate to any news article
Click the 🔍 LENS button in the bottom-right corner
Read the analysis in the sidebar

Permissions explained:

activeTab — to read the article text on the current page
storage — to save your settings (API key, language, model)
openrouter.ai — only used when OpenRouter engine is selected
