Macget Download Capture
View on Chrome Web StoreChrome will indicate if you already have this installed.
Overview
Send your browser downloads — and YouTube/videos — to Macget, the multi-threaded macOS download manager. Requires the free app.
Description (the main detail field):
Macget Capture hands downloads you start in your browser to Macget — a fast, multi-threaded download manager for macOS — so they finish
faster and live in one place.
What it does
• One-click capture: downloads you start in the browser are passed straight to the Macget app, cookies and headers included, so
logged-in and authenticated downloads just work.
• Video downloads: on a video page, click the ⬇ Macget button on the player to download it via the Macget app (YouTube, plus HLS/DASH
streams).
• Smart filtering: skips popunder / redirect / shortener "jumplink" junk that some sites fire, so only the downloads you actually meant
get captured.
• Your rules: a denylist of domains to never capture, a minimum file-size filter, and a one-tap on/off toggle.
Requires the free Macget app
This extension is the companion to the Macget desktop app for macOS — it does nothing on its own. Install Macget first (free and open
source):

Privacy
Cookies and request headers are sent only to the Macget app running on your own Mac, over Chrome's native messaging — never to any
external server. Nothing is collected or transmitted off your device.

Two fields the submission form will also force you to fill (easy to forget) — here's copy for those too:
Single purpose (required):
This extension's single purpose is to hand downloads started in the browser (files and videos) to the Macget desktop download manager
on macOS.
Permission justifications (you'll be asked per permission — your set gets reviewed closely, so be specific):
- downloads — to detect a download starting and cancel the browser's copy once Macget takes it over.
- cookies — to forward the page's cookies to Macget so logged-in/authenticated downloads succeed.
- nativeMessaging — to pass the download to the local Macget app.
- storage — to save your settings (enabled, denylist, filters).
- webRequest — to detect HLS/DASH video stream URLs on the current page.
- tabs — to tell a real user-initiated download from a drive-by popunder (jumplink filtering).
- host permissions (<all_urls>) — downloads and videos can originate on any site, so capture must work everywhere.
