Overview
Riding along the Internet Road Trip (neal.fun/internet-roadtrip) and want to explore your surroundings more closely? This extension adds a single Street View button directly to the map panel — jump to Google Street View with one click.
━━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━━
A small yellow pegman button appears right next to the info (ⓘ) button on the road trip map. Clicking it opens Google Street View at your exact current position — using the panorama ID and camera heading from the road trip's live data feed, so you see precisely what the car sees right now.
━━━ FEATURES ━━━
• One-click Street View — opens the exact panorama with the correct heading
• Live sync via WebSocket — always in sync with the road trip's current position
• Extension icon turns yellow on the road trip site, gray on all other pages
• Popup shows a direct "Open in Street View" link when on the site, or a shortcut to open the site when you're elsewhere
• Button design matches the map panel's existing visual style
• Auto-reconnects if the WebSocket connection drops
━━━ PERMISSIONS ━━━
• tabs — Detects which tab is active so the extension can update the icon color and show the correct popup content
• WebSocket connection to internet-roadtrip-listen-eqzms.ondigitalocean.app — Connects to the road trip's own live data feed (the same connection the site already makes) to read the current map position in real time
━━━ PRIVACY ━━━
This extension does not collect, store, or share any personal data. It reads publicly broadcast position data from the Internet Road Trip WebSocket server for display purposes only. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts.
