Overview
Hacker News Enhancement Suite reimagines news.ycombinator.com for power users. Comes with a cleaner layout, inline replies, collapsible threads, tag and upvote tracking for other users, and keyboard navigation (`j`, `k`, `o`, `l`, `p`, `b`) so you can triage stories without leaving the home row.
Highlights:
- Fresh typography and spacing to reduce visual noise
- `New comment` indicators since your last visit and quick poll graphs
- Inline reply box with spinner feedback, plus comment collapsing/expanding
- Tag users or highlight scores to remember key contributors
- Persistent settings saved with Chrome’s storage APIs—no external services
This fork after the original, updated for Manifest V3 and uses a service-worker background script; it requires Chrome 109+ or any current Chromium-based browser. Firefox users should stay on the legacy MV2 build until Mozilla rolls out MV3 service-worker support.
Load it via Developer Mode or package with the included `zip.sh` before uploading to the Chrome Web Store. Source and contributor notes live at https://github.com/testy-cool/hackernews-enhancement-suite.
Swap the GitHub URL for your fork, bump version in manifest.json, rebuild the .zip, and you’re ready to submit.
