GenSnitch
✨ AI-Powered View on Chrome Web StoreChrome will indicate if you already have this installed.
Overview
GenSnitch adds a simple option to your right-click menu: “GenSnitch: Check if AI-generated”.
When you click it, GenSnitch inspects the image locally on your device and looks for common signals of AI generation, including:
- Content Credentials / provenance metadata (when present)
- EXIF/XMP metadata heuristics (e.g., “Software/Generator” fields used by common AI tools)
- PNG text chunks often used by Stable Diffusion workflows (generation parameters, etc.)
You’ll get a clear result page with:
- A verdict: Evidence found / No evidence found / Error
- A breakdown of signals (expandable details)
- A Copy JSON button for debugging, reporting, or research
Important limitations:
- “No evidence found” does NOT mean the image is real. Many platforms strip metadata, and screenshots/re-exports remove useful signals.
- GenSnitch is a forensics-style signal checker, not a universal lie detector.
Privacy:
- GenSnitch is privacy-first:
- Runs only when you click the right-click menu action
- No analytics
- No uploads (v0 analyzes images locally)
Open source:
GenSnitch is open source - you can inspect the code, build it yourself, and contribute improvements.
