Ganesha. A simple way to stop any website from opening new tabs.

If you are tired of sites spawning surprise tabs, redirecting you without asking, or opening hidden links in the background, this extension gives you firm control. The purpose is very clear. It blocks every new tab attempt made by any website.

What it does

Blocks all new tab openings
Any call to window.open, any link that tries to open in a new tab, and any form submit that attempts to launch a separate tab is stopped instantly.

Works on every frame
The protection covers iframes, embedded widgets, ad components, and popups created by scripts.

One click toggle
Click the Ganesha icon to switch blocking on or off. The icon changes color so you always know your current state.

In page alerts
A small toast appears whenever you toggle the state, so you do not have to guess whether the protection is active.

How to use it

Install the extension

Allow the site access permission for all sites

Click the icon to turn blocking on

Browse normally

When blocking is on, all new tabs are prevented. If a site needs to open a tab for a valid reason, turn the extension off for a moment, complete your task, and turn it back on.
