Overview

FrogoFocus is a Chrome extension that tracks how much time you spend on every website throughout the day and helps you take back control of your browsing habits.

The moment you open Chrome, the extension quietly runs a background service worker. Every second, it detects which website tab is currently active and in focus, then adds that elapsed time to a running daily total for that domain. It also breaks your usage down hour-by-hour, so you can see exactly when during the day you tend to get distracted. If you switch tabs, minimize the window, lock your screen, or simply walk away, tracking automatically pauses and resumes when you return.

You set a daily time limit for any website you want to control, such as YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok. As your time on that site accumulates, FrogoFocus displays a small, draggable countdown widget directly on the page, showing how many minutes are left and a color-coded progress bar that shifts from green to amber to red as you approach your limit. You also receive browser notifications at 20%, 50%, 80%, and 90% of your limit so you always know where you stand before the time runs out.

When your limit is reached, the extension overlays a full-screen blur block on the page with a clear message explaining that your daily allowance for that site is up. All video and audio on the page is immediately paused and kept paused. You cannot dismiss this screen by clicking the background. Your only real options are to open your dashboard and extend your limit by choice, or go back to a previous page. This makes the block firm but never permanent.

FrogoFocus is also smart enough to recognize educational content. If the title of a YouTube video contains keywords like "tutorial", "course", "how to", or "programming", the extension skips the block entirely and instead shows a small "Learning Mode" badge, so genuine study time is never interrupted.

Three focus modes give you flexible control. In manual mode, you choose the exact time limits for each site yourself. In adaptive mode, the extension studies your average usage over the past several days and automatically calculates tighter limits each day, gradually reducing your screen time without requiring manual input. In health mode, it watches your total daily screen time across all sites and sends break reminders after you have been continuously browsing for a set number of minutes, encouraging healthy habits.

Your full usage history, hourly breakdowns, click counts, and keyboard activity are all stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. Nothing is sent to any external server. You can review your browsing history by day, identify your biggest time sinks, and see which hours of the day you are most productive or most distracted, all from the extension's dashboard.
