Overview
Fracto PDF Viewer transforms how you read PDFs in your browser.
When you open any PDF link, Fracto automatically displays it in a clean, multi-column layout —
similar to reading a physical book or a printed journal. No more endless vertical scrolling through
long documents.
Key Features
Multi-Column Layout
Fracto splits your PDF into multiple columns that scroll horizontally, just like turning pages. This
makes it much easier to read long documents such as research papers, textbooks, lecture notes, and
technical manuals.
Split View (Pin Column)
Need to reference one section while reading another? Pin any column to keep it visible on the side
while you continue scrolling through the rest of the document. This is especially useful when
cross-referencing figures, tables, or citations in academic papers.
Breakpoints
Set breakpoints between pages to organize your reading. Break a long document into logical sections
— chapters, topics, or any grouping that makes sense for your workflow.
Text Selection & Search
The full text layer is preserved, so you can select, copy, and search text within your PDFs just as
you would in any standard viewer.
Dark Mode Support
Fracto respects your system's dark mode setting for comfortable reading in any lighting condition.
Who is Fracto For?
- Researchers who work with multiple academic papers daily
- Students reading lecture notes, textbooks, and course materials
- Professionals reviewing technical documentation, reports, and specifications
- Anyone who reads long PDF documents and wants a better experience than the default Chrome PDF
viewer

How It Works
Once installed, Fracto automatically opens whenever you navigate to a PDF file. There is nothing to
configure — it just works. If you ever need the original Chrome PDF viewer, you can disable Fracto
from the extensions menu.
Privacy
Fracto does not collect, store, or transmit any of your browsing data or PDF content. The extension
runs entirely in your browser. Your PDFs are never sent to any server unless you explicitly choose
to save them to your Fracto account. Read our full privacy policy at https://fracto.dev/privacy
Permissions
Fracto requires access to web navigation in order to detect when you open a PDF file and redirect it
to the Fracto viewer. This is the only reason the extension needs broad URL access — it does not
read or modify any web page content.
