Overview
Focus Tax is a light, rule-based browser game that lives in your extension popup: you start with a balance, and the extension nudges you with plain math (open tabs, rapid switching, listed distraction sites, “chaos” patterns, etc.) and credits (steady focus on one tab, work sessions on sites you list, closing tabs, cleanup, and quests).
Everything runs in your browser using local storage. There’s no sign-in, no server, and no “AI”—just settings you control (difficulty preset, which hosts count as “tax” vs “work,” optional badge number).
What you can do
- Tune difficulty (gentle / standard / strict) to match how punishing rewards and fees feel.
- List distraction hosts to tax and work hosts to credit, on top of sensible defaults.
- Earn and track focus blocks, daily bonuses, “beat yesterday,” weekly tiers, and achievements—plus optional receipt-style themes and stickers as you play.
- Boss fight and flash quests add short, optional challenges.
- Stats and options use a thermal-receipt style; export a simple week summary (copy or PNG) on device if you want to share.
