Overview
Dusk Reader turns bright websites into comfortable dark themes, with per-site controls for brightness, contrast, sepia, grayscale, fonts, and reading comfort.
It works automatically after installation, supports schedules and system dark mode, and keeps all settings local in your browser. No browsing history collection, no tracking, no account required.
FEATURES
Automatic dark mode for every website
Dusk Reader adapts bright backgrounds, text, borders, and page surfaces into a calm dark theme so articles, docs, dashboards, search results, and social feeds are easier to read at night or in low-light environments.
Per-site brightness and color controls
Fine-tune brightness, contrast, sepia tone, grayscale, and font preferences for individual websites. Set it once, and Dusk Reader remembers your preferred reading setup for that domain.
Smart scheduling
Turn dark mode on by time range, local sunrise and sunset, or your system light/dark preference. Use normal display by day and comfortable dark pages at night without manual switching.
Whitelist and blacklist controls
Choose whether Dusk Reader should run on every website, only selected websites, or all sites except the ones you exclude. Add or remove the current website quickly from the popup.
Multiple theme generation modes
Choose Dynamic, Filter, Filter+, or Static mode to handle different page layouts and visual styles. This helps complex websites stay natural, readable, and usable.
Keyboard shortcuts
Use Alt+Shift+D to toggle Dusk Reader globally, and Alt+Shift+A to add or remove the current site.
Private by design
Dusk Reader runs locally in your browser. It does not collect browsing history, track page visits, require an account, or send your browsing activity to an external analytics service.
Dusk Reader is built for people who spend long hours in the browser: late-night workers, readers, students, developers, researchers, and anyone who wants calmer pages with more control.
