Clean Chatgpt Utm Links
✨ AI-Powered View on Chrome Web StoreChrome will indicate if you already have this installed.
Overview
Tired of those annoying tracking parameters showing up in ChatGPT links every time you copy/paste something from the ChatGPT web app? Well, no more. Let ChatGPT do your homework, write your articles and do your research without having to clean up those links, one by one. This extension removes `utm_source=chatgpt.com` query parameters from links rendered inside the ChatGPT web app, whenever they pop up.
## What it does
- Runs only on:
- Cleans existing links already in the page.
- Watches for newly-added links as ChatGPT updates the UI.
- Watches `href` attribute changes and immediately re-cleans links if scripts mutate URLs.
- Performs periodic cleanup sweeps to counteract delayed or repeated JS rewrites.
- Removes value variations of ChatGPT source tags (for example: `chatgpt.com`, `CHATGPT.COM`, `https://chatgpt.com/`, URL-encoded variants) while preserving other query params.
- Shows a temporary top-right overlay with the running count of cleaned links.
- Includes an on/off switch in the extension popup (enabled by default).
## Controls
1. Click the extension icon.
2. Toggle **Enable link cleaning** on/off.
3. Setting is stored with `chrome.storage.sync`.
## Notes
- No inline script injection is used.
