Canvas Agent

Canvas Agent is an AI-powered study assistant that lives in a browser side panel right next to your Canvas courses. Instead of digging through modules, files, and announcements one by one, just ask a question and get an answer drawn from your actual course materials.

What it does
Canvas Agent indexes the materials in your Canvas courses — assignments, lecture slides, PDFs, announcements, and Panopto lecture transcripts — and makes them searchable and conversational. Open the side panel on any Canvas page and ask things like:
• "What are the key concepts from last week's lectures?"
• "When is my next assignment due, and what does it cover?"
• "Summarize the readings for this module."
• "Explain the topic on slide 4 of today's lecture."

Who it's for
Students at any university or institution that uses Canvas (by Instructure). If your school runs on Canvas, Canvas Agent works with it.

How your data is handled
Canvas Agent works through your existing Canvas login — it reads your materials using the same authenticated browser session you already have open. It does not ask for, store, or transmit your Canvas password.
To answer your questions, relevant course text is sent securely to our backend and an AI provider to generate responses; it is not used to train models and is not sold or shared. Your searchable course index is stored locally in your browser.
