Overview
BTCW Wallet is a self-custodial browser wallet for the BTCW blockchain. Manage your BTCW, send transactions, and bridge to Binance Smart Chain (BSC) — all from a clean, lightweight extension.
━━━ Key Features ━━━
• Send & Receive BTCW — Build, sign, and broadcast transactions entirely in-browser. No third-party servers touch your keys.
• Bridge to BSC — One-click bridge deposits to convert native BTCW into wBTCW on Binance Smart Chain. OP_RETURN-based, fully compatible with the BTCW bridge relayer.
• Local Node or Remote RPC — Connect directly to your own BTCW Core node (localhost:8332) or a remote RPC endpoint. You choose your trust model.
• Self-Custodial — Your keys, your coins. Wallet is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored locally. Private keys never leave your device.
• BIP39 + BIP84 — Industry-standard mnemonic recovery phrases with native SegWit (P2WPKH) address derivation.
• dApp Integration — Websites can detect the wallet via the window.btcw provider API for seamless interactions (connect, get balance, sign transactions).
• Auto-Lock — Configurable auto-lock timer for security. Wallet locks after inactivity and clears sensitive data when the browser closes.
• Explorer Integration — View your address and transactions on the BTCW Explorer with one click.
━━━ How It Works ━━━
1. Create a new wallet or import an existing one using a 12-word recovery phrase.
2. Connect to your BTCW node (local or remote) in Settings.
3. Send BTCW, receive to your address, or bridge to BSC.
━━━ Permissions ━━━
• Storage & Alarms — For encrypted wallet data and auto-lock timer.
• localhost / btcw.space — To communicate with your BTCW node and the BTCW Explorer API for balance lookups.
• Content Scripts — To provide the window.btcw API so websites (like the BTCW bridge) can interact with your wallet, just like MetaMask does for Ethereum.
━━━ Open Source ━━━
BTCW Wallet is open source. Review the code, report issues, or contribute on GitHub.
