Beacon — Academic Os For
View on Chrome Web StoreChrome will indicate if you already have this installed.
Overview
Beacon is an academic operating system for college students with ADHD and executive dysfunction. The core idea is simple: students shouldn't have to remember to check their syllabi for hidden traps. Beacon reads their syllabi automatically and pushes the dangerous policies before they cost grade points.
This extension is the silent scout. While you browse Canvas like normal, Beacon reads your syllabus tabs in the background — including PDFs, Google Docs, and externally-linked syllabus pages — and sends the content to your private Beacon account for analysis. You'll see a small pulsing dot on every Canvas page confirming Beacon is active.
What gets surfaced (visible on your Beacon dashboard, not in this extension):
- Hidden grading traps (e.g., "no makeup quizzes — zero exceptions")
- Late-work policies that quietly cap your maximum score
- Attendance rules that fail you automatically after N absences
- AI/academic integrity policies specific to each course
- Religious observance and disability accommodation deadlines
Built for students at Canvas-using universities. Currently optimized for the U.S. and EU education systems.
