Overview
Is this extension for me?
If you read in another language, it’s almost certain that you’ll come across words, phrases, or idioms you don’t understand. Most likely, you pause, copy the word, and go to Google Translate, or use some other translation extension. The problem with these traditional translators is that they don’t consider the context, so they often give literal translations that don’t make sense. Plus, they don’t define idioms, phrases, or phrasal verbs. If this sounds familiar, then Aka is definitely for you.
How does it solve the problem?
Aka solves this by taking the context of the word into account — the surrounding text — and based on that, when you want to know the meaning, it gives you the real, contextual definition. It also provides examples of how to use that word in other situations. Aka is made for people who learn vocabulary in another language while reading.
How to use it
It’s simple. Once you install Aka, it’s active by default. Just select the word, phrase, or expression you want to understand, and a button will appear above it. Click the button, and you’ll see the meaning along with examples.
What Aka is NOT
It’s not a translator, so it won’t work for full paragraphs or whole web pages.
