Airbnb Better Maps

Overview
Airbnb Better Maps overlays useful neighborhood data on Airbnb's map view. It helps you pick a place to stay based on what actually matters to you, not just price and photos.
LAYERS
• Transit lines: Subway, tram, light rail, and commuter rail, sourced from OpenStreetMap. Color-matched to the real network where data is available, so the map looks like a transit map.
• Neighborhood zones: Colored regions for Hipsters, Suits, Rich, Tourists, University, Normies, Nightlife, and Crime, sourced from Hoodmaps. Adjustable opacity and per-category toggles.
• Hoodmaps tags: Short crowdsourced labels like "a LOT of tourists", "Rich person farmer's market", "Best part" — sized by community vote count and styled to match Hoodmaps.
HOW IT WORKS
Open any Airbnb search-results page and click the "Layers" pill on the top-left of the map. Toggle layers on or off, adjust the opacity, pick which categories you want to see. Your preferences are remembered.
The extension only activates on Airbnb search results. It does not run on listing-detail pages or anywhere else.
PRIVACY
Nothing about you is collected, transmitted, or sold. The extension runs entirely in your browser. The only network requests it makes are to fetch public map data (OpenStreetMap and Hoodmaps) for the city you're currently looking at. See the privacy policy for the full breakdown.
CREDITS
• Transit geometry: OpenStreetMap contributors, via the Overpass API.
• Neighborhood data: Hoodmaps.com.
