AI Autocomplete is a privacy-focused Chrome extension designed to integrate powerful AI writing tools directly into your browser. It provides intelligent text completions, a versatile chat assistant, and advanced rewriting capabilities on virtually any website you visit. This tool is designed for users who want to enhance their writing process without compromising on privacy or control.

During the current beta phase, all features are available for free.

- Intelligent Text Completion: Press Ctrl+Space to generate 5 unique text suggestions right where you're typing. You can cycle between short, medium, and long completion modes to fit your needs.

- AI Chat Assistant: Access a full conversational AI by pressing Alt+Shift+Y. The chat window is draggable, resizable, and can optionally use the context of your current page to provide more relevant assistance.

- Advanced Text Rewriting: Select any text and press Alt+Shift+R to receive three alternative variations. You can tailor the AI's writing style with custom prompts and choose from professional, casual, or technical tones.

- Powered by 300+ AI Models: The extension connects to over 300 leading AI models through the OpenRouter API, including GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and more.

- Privacy-First Design: Your text is only processed when you explicitly trigger a feature. The extension features encrypted API key storage, automatically excludes sensitive fields like passwords, and does not perform background processing.

- Full User Control: Customize your experience with 8 configurable keyboard shortcuts and three distinct "injection modes" (Conservative, Balanced, Aggressive) that let you decide how the extension interacts with websites.

- Universal Compatibility: AI Autocomplete functions on over 85% of websites, including complex web applications and editors like Google Docs.

How to Get Started

1. Click "Add to Chrome" to install the extension.
2. Complete the initial privacy consent flow.
3. Enter your personal OpenRouter API key. You can get a key at openrouter.ai/keys.
4. Navigate to any website with a text field and begin using the keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Space to trigger completions.

Our Approach to Privacy

Your privacy is a priority. The extension is built with transparency and user control at its core.

- Data Processing: Text is sent to the OpenRouter API only when you activate a feature (e.g., autocomplete, rewrite, or chat). This data is used solely to generate the AI response and is not stored permanently.

- Local Storage: Your settings and API key are stored locally in your browser. Your API key is secured using AES-256-GCM encryption.

- Permissions: The extension requests minimal permissions required for functionality. Optional permissions are only requested if you choose a more aggressive injection mode, giving you full control over its access.
