Why we built this

"Clicked a clickbait title, wasted 10 minutes" — it happens every day.
Like count is the most direct quality signal on YouTube, but YouTube hides it behind the click.
This extension surfaces it the moment you're deciding — one more data point, ten fewer wasted minutes.

Get started in three steps

1. Add to Chrome → pin it to the toolbar (puzzle button → pin icon)
2. Sign in with OnceAccount (first hover prompts login; or buy a license key anonymously)
3. Open YouTube and pause on any thumbnail for 0.25 seconds

What you'll see

- Real like counts, sourced from Google's official YouTube Data API v3
- Works on home, search, channel pages, Shorts — anywhere thumbnails appear
- 30 ms response for the second person to query a video (7-day server cache)
- 0.25-second delay avoids accidental triggers; configurable to 150 / 300 / 500 / 800 ms
- Stays out of your way: the icon only appears on hover and disappears on mouse-out

Data source & what we don't do

Source: Google's YouTube Data API v3 (official authorization)
- We don't scrape YouTube pages
- We don't call YouTube's private APIs
- The numbers come straight from YouTube — same as what you'd see after clicking

What we don't do:
- We don't track which videos you browse
- We don't sell your hover behavior to anyone
- Each hover sends only the video ID to our backend, which returns the like count
- Your OnceAccount session lives in chrome.storage.local — never leaked to other sites
